Finding Wedding Invitations in Calgary

Wedding invitations are often one of the last items you choose for your wedding, but they are the first way to make an impression on your guests. A great invitation sets the tone for your upcoming event while expressing the personalities of both the bride and groom. It should tell your guest whether the occasion will be large and formal or intimate and low-key.

Before you go to look at the Wedding Invitations available in Calgary...

Narrowing down the hundreds of choices you have available with be easier if you prepare yourself ahead of time:

  • Decide on the formality of the event
  • Prepare your guest lists and numbers ahead of time
  • Decide on a theme or colour scheme
  • Know your budget!

If the invitation company you are interested in working with does not have the exact colour that you were looking for try using it as an accent colour instead. Also, before visiting the wedding stationery stores make sure you have all your information gathered including, locations, times and addresses.

How many invitations are needed?

A good rule of thumb is to order half the number of invitations as the number of guests you are going to invite plus 15 to 20 extras that will come in handy as keepsakes or for anybody you have accidentally left off your list. Also, make sure that you do receive a few extra envelopes with your order in case of mistakes. Married couples and families only need one invitation. If there is a child over the age of 18 living at home it is customary to include their name on the outer envelope or send them their own invitation.

What you'll need:

The items you will need are the invitation itself, a response card, an envelope for each and an optional reception card (if you have additional information) and an optional map or directional card for your guests. Other inserts may include an entourage or bridal party list or luncheon card. Some couples may opt to send a Save-the-Date card if they are having their wedding on a holiday weekend or hosting a wedding outside of Calgary. This gives people extra time to reserve time off work and organize their schedule for the event.

The Extras...

There are some possibe options to keep in mind while choosing your wedding invitations:

  • Ink, Paper and Ribbon Colours
  • Method of Print
  • Lined Envelopes and Envelope Colours
  • Monograms or Motifs
  • Envelope Seals

Not all Wedding Invitation companies will offer all of these options. Some companies will allow more customization than others. If you are having trouble finding the right company you can always consult a local wedding planner or try putting the invitations together yourself. Just be sure that your wedding invitations reflect your own personal taste and style and the importance of the occasion.
